In the news today was a toddler who managed to shoot herself with her grandmother's gun in a discount store.  Apparently the critically wounded child fished grandma's gun out of her unattended purse and shot herself while playing with it.

Didn't we just get done expressing worry about so many of our fellow Americans who seem bald-ass stupid?

We have no doubt grandma is horrified/traumatized over what happened, but she still deserves being taken to task for being just incomprehensibly stupid.

Here at The Stupid Nation.com, we believe in the Second Amendment with the same strength of conviction as the First.  Since this is The Stupid Nation, we will state the obvious:  Firearms ownership comes with solemn responsibility.  Responsibility to handle a deadly self-defense weapon safely.  Responsibility to securely store and/or control a firearm when there are kids around.   It is precisely this kind of wanton careless handling that gives the other 100 million firearms owners in this country a bad name.   While firearms accidents have been in steady decline for quite a number of years, we don't need to hear about totally unnecessary tragedies, especially involving kids.

Our mission here is to prod, cajole, and otherwise encourage our fellow Americans to stop using their brains as paperweights and doorstops and THINK!
