The Enemy Within - The Democratic Party

Let's put this on the table before we proceed - even though it may sound like it, we are not fans of President George Bush.  There is much to criticize the Bush Administration for.  We at the TheStupidNation.com were never opposed to the Iraq war.  We felt it was a good thing to remove Saddam Hussein.  A megalomaniac in the best possible light, one who had stock piles of chemical weapons at least (for those with short memories, he used them on his own people, so we know beyond doubt that he had them), was widely known to covet nuclear weapons (the Israelis blew up the Iraqi nuclear program), as well as biological agents, and invaded his neighbors to the east and south.  At the time when President Bush acted to remove Saddam Hussein, the United Nations sanctions and embargoes were crumbling under the weight of billions in bribes Hussein was using to undermine them.  It is also beyond question that Hussien would have immediately tried to reconstitute himself once free of sanctions and embargoes.  Having said all that, we are appalled at the Bush Administration dysfunction and bungling in post-combat Iraq, which is directly responsible for the death of many American troops, extended the suffering and death for the Iraqi people, and significantly prolonged the American campaign in the Country.  Bush is responsible for the mess.  Posterity will not reflect kindly on him for it.

At the time of authorization of force by Congress, the vote count was 77-23 for the Senate, and 296-133 for the House.  This means that a fair number of Democrats voted for the war, though many recanted their vote claiming they were intentionally misled by the Bush Administration regarding Saddam Hussein's nuclear weapons program.  To this we say: bullcrap.  But the politics of duck-and-cover are to be expected.  To the extent that ordinary Americans buy the bull that Bush "lied" about weapons of mass destruction to manipulate America into an "unjust" war, well, that's why we are The Stupid Nation.  The facts don't support this, not even remotely.  But let's cut through all the bull that has already been hashed through ad nausium and ask a simple question:  If you were President, would YOU commit troops to battle on a rationale you knew was wrong, and would be impossible to cover up?  Of course not!!  Bush was convinced the danger was there.  The rest is history.

We admit that we never expected the Democratic Party would cynically capitalize on the mis-steps, and move to undermine the United States of America for their own selfish political power purposes.  If you recall, the actual war with Hussiens' Iraq went exceedingly well for the United States.  We routed the Iraqi Army, and sacked the nation's capitol with breath-taking speed.  Immediately after Hussiens' ouster, most Iraqi people were practically delirious with joy.  The video of celebrating Iraqi's says it all.

But then Bush's cabinet faltered.  Failing to have an effective exit plan in post-combat Iraq, the Bush Administration naively put much of their hopes behind an Iraqi ex-patriot virtually unknown inside his own Country, but who cleverly manipulated the US political machine to eventually gain favorite Iraqi status.  This dude failed to attract any support within the country, and the Bush Administration had no plan B.  Continuing with mis-steps and gaffs, the Bush Administration managed to do everything they could to precipitate failure, culminating in the dumbest of the dumb acts - firing the remains of the Iraqi armed forces, lock, stock, and gun barrel.  Thus, 200,000 or so mostly young Iraqi males were disenfranchised, heavily armed, unemployed, out of uniform, and on the streets.   As you know, it just got worse and worse from there as the Bush cabinet fought over turf while Bush sat on his hands, and let the huge egos clash as American solders died by the humvee load.

Enter the American Fifth Column, otherwise known as The Democratic Party.  Seeing the carnage in the field, and the poll numbers at home, the Democrats don't step in with a 'let's work with Bush to fix this mess' mission, instead, they declare ultimate failure, that Iraq was lost, that we who put the Iraqi people into this situation should abandon them to their fate, and bolt for home.  Dishonor, disgrace, disengagement.

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha, Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein all howl failure! Failure! And demand immediate abandonment of Iraq; aiding, abetting, and comforting America's enemies in the field.  Helping to enhance the dangers in the field for our troops.  But this didn't matter, all that mattered to the Democrats was that there was political blood in the water, and here was an opportunity to ingratiate themselves on a dismayed America rather than trying to rally around the President and resolve to fix the problems towards ultimate success in the middle of an international crisis.  Thus, the Democratic party transmogrified into The Party Of Failure.  They needed failure, they counted on failure, and they did everything they could to guarantee failure, because simply put, it benefited them.  Pure and simple.

And so sadly, for many Americans, they bought it hook line and stinker.  Hey, we are not the Stupid Nation for nothing!

Now fast forward...Bush finally wakes up, starts firing people; generally shaking up the team trying to manage Iraq.  This resulted ultimately in added troops that the military had said over and over they needed in the first place, but whom were over-ruled by Cheney and Rumsfeld.  Things begin to slowly improve.

Fast forward some more after slow steady nation-building improvements, the unrelenting rhetoric from Democrats of failure, failure, failure, quietly drops away.  Then on July 1, at the request of Congress, the Bush Administration releases an update to it's Iraqi success factor assessment.  The infamous 18 benchmarks for measuring success.  Now, the Bush Administration reports that 15 of the 18 benchmarks are "satisfactory".   Clearly the reports coming out of Iraq are showing that the country is on the move, and it's in a very positive direction.  Clearly mainstream liberal media outlets are reporting on this news as little as possible (predictably only Fox News noted the release of the revised positive benchmark report).  But what is the Democratic reaction?  Celebration perhaps?  Cheering in the halls of Congress?  Press conferences admitting they were wrong?  Nope.  According to the Associated Press:

"Rep. Mike McIntyre, D-N.C., who requested the administration's updated assessment, scoffed at the May report, which he says uses the false standard of determining whether progress on a goal is "satisfactory" versus whether the benchmark has been met. He estimates that only a few of the 18 benchmarks have been fully achieved.

Democrats also say more solid progress could have been made had the administration starting pulling troops out sooner".    AP Article here

Say what!?

Democrats claim there would have been more progress if we pulled troops out sooner?  We know this is The Stupid Nation, but anybody who buys that steaming mountain of bullcrap is a flaming moron. Snatching failure out of the jaws of success.  If we pulled out, Iraq would have collapsed, and the ripple effects felt around the world, setting the stage for a much, much larger conflagration.  But the collapse wouldn't have been the Democrats fault; oh no, the collapse would have been the Bush Administration's fault.  And people in droves would buy it!!

If the House Un-American Activities Committee were still in session, the entire Democratic Party would be found guilty of undermining America and ordered to disband, it's members blacklisted from holding any public office.

Furthermore, if today's Party of Failure were transported back in time by Capt. Kirk to take over Congress during World War II, Nancy Pelosi would have been calling for America to surrender to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor.   Harry Reid and John Murtha would have jointly declared the D-Day Invasion a complete failure and demanded an immediate withdrawal of all US troops from Europe.

These are the spineless whimps you want in majority power?  These are the cretins you would like to see in control of the White House?

The incredibly Stupid Nation.
