Obamarama Acid Reflux
As we discussed in our first Obamarama piece, Barak Obama tried to drift away from his Iraqi troop withdrawal stance after a stream of positive events reported out of Iraq strongly indicated things are finally on the right track in that country. He was immediately attacked by the far left extremists in the Democratic Party and remarked that he was "puzzled" by the virulent response. Since Obama owes his candidacy to these loons, he quickly scurried back to hard-line that 'hey, hey, ho, ho, our troops have gotta go' regardless of the conditions on the ground in Iraq.
There have been a number of developments over the last day or so that the McCain campaign have been gleefully pointing out...
McCain has the luxury of laughing all the way to the polling booth. McCain has correctly pointed out that Obama has formulated his "strategic" plan for Iraq and Afghanistan without a single solitary visit to either Country. Other than being told what to do by the far left, and what he reads in the liberal press, Obama has formulated a plan in the vacuum of situational ignorance. A very very bad thing for a Presidential wannabe. Obama has put himself in a nice little box he cannot get out of, and is now busy trying to downplay successes as best he can. McCain has chastised Obama for adopting a policy for Iraq, and Afghanistan, then going in search of facts to back it up.
Well, hec, isn't that exactly what the Bush Administration is being criticized for in the search for justification for removing Saddam Hussein? Isn't it? Many accused the Administration of deciding to remove Hussein, and then going on a witch hunt to justify it. Tsk tsk on hypocrisy thing Obama. That's what happens when you formulate policy based on polls rather than fact - a favorite thing for the Democrats these days.
We also take note of a fact pointed out by McCain earlier - that Obama chairs a the Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee on European Affairs, which has jurisdiction over NATO matters, and yet has not convened a single solitary meeting on Afghanistan. Here is what Senator Clinton had to say about this: "But I also have heard Senator Obama refer continually to Afghanistan, and he references being on the Foreign Relations Committee. He chairs the Subcommittee on Europe. It has jurisdiction over NATO. NATO is critical to our mission in Afghanistan. He's held not one substantive hearing to do oversight, to figure out what we can do to actually have a stronger presence with NATO in Afghanistan." During an interview with Tim Russert, Obama admitted that this was true.
The real hard core problem for Obama is that the majority of Americans have no party allegiance. If Obama continues to advocate one dimensional policies that run contrary to the obvious and incontrovertible facts on the ground, the American People will figure that out (even some of the stupid ones), and he will never get into the White House.
One of the items that disappeared from Obama's web site was his prediction that the troop surge would fail. Well gosh darn it, the surge didn't fail. It's succeeding, and as we stated before, the Democratic Party desperately needs failure, for they know they will not win the White House without it. If we were as paranoid as some of those far left wackos, we'd be thinking that the Democrats or perhaps George Soros/Moveon.org are in secret negotiations with the bad guys in Iraq to stir things up just before election day.
As far Iraq being a strategic zero - according to Wikipedia, between 17,731 - 23,560 insurgents and wacko Jihadists are dead. These people will never get a chance to blow up a nice juicy American mall, or hijack plane and fly them into buildings, or strap bombs to their butts and blow themselves up in crowded places anywhere in the US. They are all dead and gone. The crushing defeat of al Qaeda in Iraq is reverberating around the middle east.
16-JUL Update: We were watching the Fox News program Special Report with Brit Hume - it's the only political analysis show we can stomach. Tonight they were discussing Obama and his about face pledge to dump out of Iraq in 16 months come hell or bloody water. Mort Kondracke, one of the liberal commentators on Hume's discussion panel remarked that Obama's retreat to the silly 16 month pullout absolute was because Obama "panicked" when he drew a sharp rebuke from the wacko hard Left. A liberal says Obama panicked, eh.
Extrapolate Stupid Nation, if this little episode produces "panic", imagine what a real crisis will bring out. Do we need a panic prone President? Or is it more appealing to have a President who, after he was repeatedly tortured and beaten to a pulp regularly as a prisoner of war, did not crack? Gee this is a tough call......uh...um....we'll take the guy who doesn't panic.
There have been a number of developments over the last day or so that the McCain campaign have been gleefully pointing out...
- Obama's doctored up his website to remove or water down his stated opposition to the troop "surge" in Iraq. The additional troops served their intended purpose - buying time for the Iraqi Government to stabilize and begin to take ownership of their own country. The good news coming out of Iraq is undeniable, but Obama still preaches the mantra that the troops surge really isn't successful in it's stated objectives. He has to, the far left wackadoos demand it.
- Obama claims that Iraq is just a distraction and the real fight is in Afghanistan and always has been. We should yank troops out of Iraq and re task them to Afghanistan regardless of whether or not that adversely impacts the success on the ground in Iraq. Since Iraq is a distraction anyway, who cares if the successes crumble and Iraq sinks back into chaos because we pulled out too early.
- Obama claims that Iraq had and has no strategic value for America, but Afghanistan does, this is because the Sept. 11 WTC attacks were planned from Afghanistan and that's where the next mass terrorist attack is likely to come from.
