To Apologists for Illegal Immigration

Much reported in the news lately has been the road-rage related murders of Anthony Bologna, age 48, Michael Bologna, age 20, and Matthew Bologna, age 16 a citizen family who were slaughtered with an (illegal) AK-47 style weapon.  Authorities have charged illegal immigrant Edwin Ramos of El Salvador with the killings.  Lawyers for Ramos claim he is innocent of the charges, however, it doesn't look very good for the defendant that just prior to these slayings he was arrested in March of '08 after a gun used in a double homicide was found in a car he happened to be driving.   It also doesn't help that Ramos also has a prior rap sheet for felony convictions while in the United States illegally, and is alleged to be a gang-banger by local authorities.

Because of San Francisco's radical leftist views, the City government adopted sanctuary laws that blocked the handing over of felons such as Ramos to the INS for deportation.  The apparent result - at least three citizens are dead - Michael and Matthew will never have kids, Anthony will never have grand kids, and Mrs Bologna will live a life devastated and altered irrevocably by these senseless killings.  And the San Fransisco elected officials get to look like the horses' asses they really, truly are.

We think the people who want to protect illegal immigrants are people who suffer from a guilt complex.  They feel bad that the collective 'we' are exploiting illegal immigrants with slave labor wages and working conditions, so they want to cut these people a break.

First of all, TheStupidNation.com  believes that the fact there is a slave-labor black market thriving in the United States is yet another indicator of failed liberal social policies.  In order to by-pass all the laws associated with Workers Compensation, Health care Insurance, Minimum Wage regulations, OSHA regulations, EEOC regulations,  Fair Labor Standards Act regulations, Social Security, Federal, and State income tax regulations, Unemployment  law and Unemployment Tax regulations, and God only knows how many other State and Local regulations applicable to employment here in the United States, employers have sought out ways to by-pass all of the above, and pocket the profits.

So The Stupid Nation feels bad for these people, who voluntarily sign up for social/economic exploitation because even then, their condition is better than what they had in their native lands.  Thus many of us desire to cut these people a break and look the other way.  And another three citizens die as a result (there have been other killings by illegal immigrants - these three are only the latest).

The United States has no need for citizens who start out their tenure in this country as criminals.  An illegal immigrant is by definition an individual whose very first act within the United States is to break the law.   These people are NOT welcome.  They cost the American taxpayer enormous amounts of money as they soak up the social services that they in turn exploit themselves.  And of course, some of these people go on to greater crimes.   So it's a vicious cycle where there are few winners beyond unscrupulous employers.

Stop the demand and you stop the illegal immigration.  We have already posted here that America is a ridiculously over-regulated society (Justice Scalia was quoted saying the same thing).  We would do well to revisit the staggering number of regulations governing employment in this country, but the bottom line here is if you cut off the demand for slave labor, you end the draw for the slave laborers.  It is that simple.  While we readily acknowledge that not all regulation is bad, we maintain that we are regulation loopy, and this needs to end.

In the mean time - crushing penalties for employing illegal aliens would put quite the dent in the problem.  And that is NOT new regulation, that is changing existing regulation in terms of dollar penalties prescribed by law already coupled with another astonishing concept:  enforcement.

We fear the Bologna family has died an utterly senseless death in vain, but we fight on anyway.  We may be but one obscure voice speaking into a howling wind, but we will not tire of it so long as the First Amendment lasts.  We owe it to the Bologna's of the world to call a Stupid Nation the Stupid Nation when it's being Stupid.  Illegal immigration sanctuary, and other sundry 'don't ask don't tell' policies, are monumentally stupid.

San Fransisco elected officials have blood stained hands.  That San Fransisco has altered it's sanctuary policy is too little, too late.
