One of the key Horsemen of the Financial Apocalypse, Congressman Barney Franks was in the news today.  In a rather nakedly transparent attempt to deflect the spotlight away from his own dirty hands as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee overseeing Freddic Mac and Fannie Mae, Franks claimed that Republicans were out to get the poor and racial minorities by blaming these institutions for the credit meltdown.  We suppose that it's merely coincidence that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are at the very center of the credit market collapse.  God forbid someone actually points it out though.  In a glorious leap of brain dead logic - to criticize these "Government Sponsored Corporations" is to be a racist.   It's a gigantor load a bull poop, and it's certainly NOT going to stop us from heaping blame on Franks, Dodd, Schumer (et al) and those who managed these two institutions.  They've earned it.

Franks is running for re-election, and he is grasping at anything that might save him from a richly earned termination.  We all know that whipping out the race card is an attempt at galvanizing the audience on another distracting topic.  It supposed to distract people away from current topic, and get them frozen on old stereotypical us against them race crap.  For The Stupid Nation, it may work for some, but never for all. 

The facts speak for themselves.  Big left wing government transformed Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae into a government backed thrift.  Big left wing government established the conditions for that thrift to take on massive risk as an exercise in social engineering, and actively facilitated the transfer of that huge risk into the capital markets.  And Big left wing government is now pumping out propaganda to distract The Stupid Nation so The Horsemen can slither back into office.  We don't know if a critical mass of disgust has been reached or not, but we know that Rep. Barney Franks is one politician that deserves to be run out of Washington on a barbed rail. 

Big left wing government has done more harm to racial minorities than the Republicans could if they tried - by setting poor people up for failure, Democrats lifted these people up on a false promise, and now they are about to be crushed.  Setting aside the direct impact of all these subprime loans going bad and people getting kicked out of homes they couldn't afford in the first place - who do you think suffers most during recession?  Hey there Stupid America - THINK about that - who gets really clobbered when the economy goes south?  Paging Rep. Franks - care to guess?  The economically disadvantaged, that's who. 

The poor suffer the most during recession.
