Blow a 170 million over here, save a few dollars over there

So, we are in the 15-30% poll bracket who are entirely unimpressed by President Obama and his mostly re-treaded cast of clowns, replacing the cast of old clowns from the previous administration.

Thus, for the Stupid Nation's consideration we point out the laughable hypocrisy of  Obama spending $170,000,000(!) on an inaugural party, and then waltzing into his new office diggs on the first day, declaring a wage freeze for his staff earning $100,000 or more.  Even more laughable was Obama's dramatic declaration that he "wants a clean break from business as usual".  But then again, at  four times President Bushs' inaugural costs, previously the high cost benchmark for inaugural excess, perhaps we can regard the $170 million blown as 'business unusual' or 'business extraordinary'.

Even so, not only did Obama screw taxpayers with his grossly extravagant party costs, but now, as one of his first acts as President of the United States he has screwed the people who work most directly for him at the White House.  This solemnly demonstrates that, after pissing away $170,000,000 of OUR money, he saving a couple bucks per annum on year-over-year salary raises.   These salary cuts don't even qualify as a drop in the deficit bucket.  It's ridiculous, trite and incredibly naive.

Considering the recent release of $350,000,000,000 in "TARP" bank bailout funds, another $850,000,000,000 in proposed deficit spending "incentives" for economic "recovery", and hints of even more bailouts on the way, the wage freeze symbolism is hysterically tepid, even for token symbolism.  For those of you who can't fathom a number that high, the sum of these two figures is $1,200,000,000,000.  Yeah - 1.2 trillion.  And a wage freeze for a bunch of White House staffers is supposed to impress us.  Maybe it impresses a Stupid Nation, but not us.

We said at the outset of this blog entry that we were unimpressed.  Boy, are we ever.

And don't even get us started on the perennial pledge by all in-coming Presidents for "transparency".

Just you wait, Stupid Nation, just you wait.
