The Obama Report Card: F-

Updated 3/4/09

On this the 43rd day of the reign of President Barack Hussein Obama, we offer the following synopsis of a breathtaking panorama of - well, we are at a loss as to what to call this activity - historic gross reckless irresponsible negligence by a sitting President.  (Is that impeachable?)
  • Blowing and obscene $175,000,000 on an inaugural bash, and then freezing his White House staff pay on earners over $100K.  We blogged on this before.  It's was ridiculous, and in light of trillion dollar porkzilla, even more so.
  • Fleeting transparency:  Obama failed his own transparency proclamation within 24 hours of taking office.   Since then transparency has not been a very high priority for the Administration.  However, this is ok.  Obama has since made it clear that he can break his own rules whenever he feels like it.
  •  Obama has a penchant for tax cheats.  It is rather typical of a Democrat to expect laws are made for others to follow but not for them.  It is equally hilarious that Democrats love to enact programs and policies, but do everything they can to avoid actually having to pay the tab themselves.  Of course, Obama has signaled repeatedly that he really doesn't give a damn on tax cheating by Friends of Barack Obama (FOBO).  There was plenty of hay made for Bush's nominees who ran afoul of the tax man.  Not this time.  FOBO's are off limits
    • The roll call of shame:
      • Tom Daschle
      • Timothy Geithner
      • Nancy Killefer
      • Hilda Solis (Husband's tax liens)
      • Ron Kirk
  • Blagogate.  Pay-to-play.  Obama had a near miss and was clearly sweating bullets for a time while the scandal simmered.  One thing is perfectly clear, despite claims of no contact with the Illinois Governor, and then claims of minimal contact between Obama officials and Blago - the Governor understood that Obama wouldn't engage directly in pay-to-play.  In order for Blago to know that, it means contact was had.  And to suggest that Obama's replacement for his senate seat was of little or no interest to Obama is so un-credible it's good for a hearty guffaw.  Obama:  Dirty like a ditch digger after a heavy rain, and very lucky to have escaped.  Thanks in part by the media's unwillingness to dig deep.
  • The lobbyist ban.  It's a neat trick to issue an edict banning the hiring of former lobbyists under certain conditions, and then exempting FOBO's from the policy.   Only darling Obama, whom the majority of the press are loathe to challenge, could get by with this as only reported in passing, and mostly by the dread minority conservative press members.
  • Politicizing press conferences by showing open bias toward the far left press - we looked as far back as Clinton - couldn't find a precedent for this.
  • Closing Gitmo.  Liberals hated Gitmo and Obama took care of his political base at the expense of the safety of the Nation.  Now a Pandora's box has been opened.   We predict Gitmo will remain a far sight longer than the loony left thinks.
  • Porkzilla.  The first major legislative action under the Obama administration that was sold to the public by a hilariously willing press.   Nearly a trillion dollars of predominately socialist agenda spending that had absolutely nothing to do with the current state of the economy.  Not a single member of Congress read the 1000+ page bill before voting on it.  Conservatives shut out of the legislative process.  The most shocking grotesque act of economic capitalist sabotage by a sitting President in the history of the United States.  This bill was not designed to help the staggered economy, it's purpose was to inject a fatal socialist virus into the system.   Out of 900 billion in spending, only 48 billion in "shovel-ready" job-creating construction work.  Tax breaks for people who don't pay taxes.  Paltry insignificant tax breaks for people who do pay taxes.  Dismantling of successful welfare reform.  On and on and on.  A disaster wrapped within a catastrophe, spending money we don't have, that nobody wants to lend us, wealth not yet created from future generations we have no right to take from.
  • The missing bank bail out plan.  While Obama beat the Drums of Doom to frighten the ignorant masses into accepting Porkzilla without even knowing what it contained, this monstrosity didn't even address the real problem facing the nation:  instability in the financial sector.  One of Government's chief obligations is to ensure the efficient functioning of our financial system, because without it, Porkzilla, and everything else, is irrelevant.  Yet while Obama was ramming Socialism and Pork down our throats, an impotent tax cheating Treasury Secretary addressed the financial world with a disheartening disaster of a speech.  Nothing was more clear that day that the Obama Administration, despite having the benefit of the Bush Administration's insights (such as they were) and time to prepare during the power transition for what to do going forward,  Obama had no plan for the banking crisis.  And as of this writing, there is still no cohesive strategy to obtain stability and maintain it going forward.  Yet it was a dire emergency to pass Porkzilla, whose feeble effects won't be felt for months, if at all.  Our financial system keeps flirting with collapse, and this is not a dire emergency?  Obama has clearly demonstrated a shocking disinterest (and prior naked hostility) in the business sector, and a pathological lack of understanding that without business, there are no jobs, no consumer spending, no tax revenues, no Country.
  • The wholesale evaporation of wealth.  Wall Street is talking to the nation with it's money, and that money is walking out.  Since Obama took office, the Dow Jones chart looks like the slope of Mt Everest.  Wall Street has issued forth it's own no confidence vote in Obama only 43 days in.   Obama was quoted today as likening the Dow to a poll.  That he would not respond to the machinations of polls and therefore, Wall Street was on it's own.  Well, Obama's Wall Street approval rating is in the toilet, and Obama's actions are not just hurting those evil capitalists everyone loves to jealously hate, it's also hurting his friends - like the famed Warren Buffet.  Not only that, but Obama fails to realize that a huge chunk of middle-class America has it's nest egg stored up in Wall Street (including us!).  And that millions of current retirees who have income producing investments are watching in horror as their assets shrink to the point where they contemplate the necessity of returning to an already distressed workforce.  The lack of comprehension by Obama and his administration just boggles the mind.
  • Obama decried George Bush's foreign policy and promised to open a new era of cooperation, consensus building and harmony among our allies and reach out in the spirit of brotherly love to our adversaries around the globe (we had visions of diplomats singing Dr Seuss songs and the whole bit).  So how come, in the markedly untransparent manner of a secret letter to the Russians, did Obama offer to throw our staunch allies, the Poles, back under the treads of Russian tanks in exchange for helping de-nukify Iran? That wasn't very nice to our Polish allies.  Was the Polish Government consulted?  Did we acquire consensus from the European Union before we offer up an ally?  Where was the U.N. vote?  We're delighted that the Russians embarrassed Obama by leaking the secret love note, and then snubbing him in response.  He richly deserved it.
  • Speaking of Allies.  Why would Obama embarrass the Brits twice since taking office?  Obama treated the British Prime Minister almost rudely by refusing the customary joint press conference.  And then there was that little flap about sending the bust of Winston Churchill packing from the Oval office - on Obama's first day!  Cooperation?  Consensus building?  Partnering?  What the hell was that?  And O' Israel!  There were consistent warnings before the election that Obama was a radical Palestinian sympathizer and passive/aggressive hostile towards Israel.  Well, it's impossible to ignore that Obama has clearly come out on the side of the Palestinians as President, so those warnings were spot on.  Another ally tossed under the bus.  Oh well.  We are still stunned that Obama would even consider a single dime of funding to Hamas, let alone $900,000,000 of sure-to-be-diverted borrowed US dollars.  So, now the United States is getting into the business of sponsoring terrorist organizations - to blow up our friends no less!.  We are going to have to put ourselves on the list of nations that sponsor terror.  How ironic.  We hope in due course the Israelis do some Obama ass paddling of their own.  Are there any Jews left in the US that don't regret voting for Obama?  If so, we predict that in a short time, there will be none left.
  • And - We're leaving Iraq!  We're leaving Iraq!  Well, not really.  We laughed hard here.  Obama pledged to get our troops out of Iraq come hell or high desert sand.  Now he's announced his time-table for withdrawal.  Only it includes leaving 50,000 troops behind indefinitely.  So much change, we can hardly stand it.
  • How could we forget the pathetic mortgage bailout plan?  Aw hec, what's another $275,000,000,000 tacked on to Porkzilla?  The premise behind this is quintessentially modern day American Democrat policy - reward failure, and punish success.  Those who bought houses they could afford, and pay their mortgage on time every month (like us) get screwed, while people who bought houses they couldn't afford, and are deadbeat borrowers, get showered with rewards.  They have no personal responsibility for signing that interest-only ARM for that McMansion.  It's all the big bad evil bank, and mortgage brokers, who snookered 9,000,000 people into signing up for mortgages they had no hope of ever repaying.   This is Obama's solution: Reward failure, punish success.  Stupid is as Stupid does.  Why is the American voter rolling over and accepting this?
All this, and only a mere 43 days!   It's truly is astonishing how bad bad could be.  If the trend continues, and we have no reason to believe otherwise, we predict many will be longing for the Bush days, because even a seriously flawed Administration is going to beat the pants off what we have now.

Mr. President, if there were a grade lower than F-, you'd get it.

Fifty three percent of us have made a colossal mistake.   We are going to have to save ourselves.

Awake to your peril America.
