A Phish called Obama

We know, we know - will we ever post on something other than our unbridled displeasure for President Obama and his policies?

Well, the answer is yes, but....

Sometime ago, we took Obama up on his offer to post suggestions to his website on how to fix the economy.  Well, we knew it was a PR stunt; that Obama and his crew had NO interest in what Americans thought should be done, but we posted anyway.  Only thing was, in order to post a meaningless suggestion in the ol' Obama suggestion bin (read: garbage pail), one was forced to 'register' on his web site.  As wary as we were, we did.  We posted a suggestion first made by Sam Antar on his blog, White Collar Fraud, which was to declare a capital gains tax holiday.  Though revolting to die-hard liberals, it would succeed in getting capital flowing back into the markets.  A big concern last October, and still a big concern (to capitalists anyway).  So we posted this suggestion to Obama's garbage pail, and predictably we didn't hear back.  That is, until now.

Recently, we starting getting emails from "Jen O'Malley Dillon Executive Director Democratic National Committee" on the topic of the swirling "controversy" surrounding Rush Limbaugh and his declaration that he hopes/wishes that President Obama fails.  To be precisely accurate, Rush initially said he hoped Obama's policies fail, but we think policies and the President who advocates them are indistinguishable.  So OK, Rush Limbaugh wants President Obama to fail.  It shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who reads this blog, even once in a blue moon, that we do too.  But we digress....

So, we get an email from the DNC asking for us to participate in a contest of sorts to pick a derogatory slogan about Rush Limbaugh to be plastered on a billboard somewhere in his "home town".   Needless to say, we didn't participate.  As with our capital gains tax suggestion, we knew our "Attaboy Rush!" slogan would not have made it to the top 5 at the DNC.  Yet, when we heard from Ms. O'Malley Dillion next (today), the slogan was announced:  "William C." of Camden, New Jersey was heralded as the 'winner' of the slogan challenge with this catchy phrase:

"Americans Didn't Vote For A Rush To Failure".

How fitting that this exclamation of failure is authored by a resident of one of the most profoundly failed, impoverished cities in North America.  But we digress again......

Giving the Democrats the benefit of the doubt, we estimate that for approximately six of the eight years President Bush was in office, the Democratic Party was all about failure.  In fact, they did everything they could think of to guarantee a Bush Presidency failure, obstructing Bush policies, both domestic and foreign, at every turn.  Even going so far as to endanger our own troops by providing aid and comfort to our enemies abroad, so Bush would fail in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as elsewhere in the world.  Truly despicable, and in our opinion, downright treasonous stuff.

And now Rush Limbaugh is Satan incarnate because he says he wants Obama to fail.  Which bring us to this:  with all the many huge problems America faces, the Democratic National Committee spends it's time and it's money vilifying an opposition talk-show host.   Is that "change" we need?  Is that the best the DNC can do?  Is this supposed to instill confidence in us that the party in power is capable of good stewardship of the United States of America?  Indeed we agree with Rush Limbaugh, not the DNC - for America to succeed, Obama must fail.  We're sorry to say that.  We know the left is terrified the first African-American President will fail, but on his current trajectory, he must.  And there are plenty of liberals out there quietly voicing their alarm over what Obama has done to date.

We close with regards to the title of this piece, and the not completely unexpected result of our registration on Obama's web site landing us on a DNC mailing list.  We suppose the harvesting of our email address isn't technically phishing, and it's probable that somewhere in the registration pathway for that website that there was a check box or a disclaimer saying our email address would be handed over to the DNC, but we didn't see it.  Or maybe that website was a DNC website, and we just didn't realize it.  Either way, we find the use of our personal information for the purpose of emailing us partisan trash crap rather troubling.  It would have been far less disagreeable if the DNC emailed us a fact based appeal for support for Obama's Porkzilla, or on the nationalization of Healthcare and education etc.  But no, instead we get a "contest" solicitation to participate in the vilification of a conservative talk show host.  Think about this people.  America is in a tight spot, and the DNC, along with the White House, spends it's time attacking a broadcasting Enemy of the State.

Our slogan for the Democrats:  "The Party of Failure".
