Arizona or bust
The people of the State of Arizona, by a margin of 70% to 30%, have had enough. They are swimming in a human tide of illegal aliens. The Federal Government is working against itself regarding enforcement of immigration law. The Border Patrol service is overwhelmed by the volume across the border. The Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement bureau is famously inept - you can pick your reasons why.
So, a border state, trapped between sovereign Governments to the south pushing it's wretched refuse north, and a Federal Government locked in a dysfunctional argument over whether or not to enforce the existing laws it enacted - chose to take action of it's own. Naturally, liberals are outraged. And for some reason, liberals in San Francisco are particularly incensed over the idea that any state should have the audacity and intestinal fortitude to take reasonable steps to identify illegal aliens, and kick them out of the country.
To my view, at the very heart of this dispute is the notion that we are a nation of laws, and that once laws are enacted they should be enforced. We would not have an immigration problem if the Federal Government enforced immigration law, and went after the source of the majority of demand for the labor black market - employers. Understand the dynamics of the labor underground, and then cut demand off from supply. It's that simple.
I do not believe a single solitary illegal alien deserves to remain in this country. I believe that anybody who is or was an illegal alien should be automatically disqualified from ever becoming a legal immigrant. Why you ask? Because. Anyone who starts out their citizenship as a law breaker has already demonstrated a willingness to break the law, and otherwise ignore the law of the land. And that is not acceptable.
Meanwhile, liberals have called for a boycott of Arizona for passing their anti-illegal immigrant law. If it takes hold beyond the rarified pot-filled air of San Francisco, I pledge my next vacation will be in the courageous state of Arizona.
