Anti-Semitism In Washington
So, Helen Thomas, one of the liberal press standard bearers in the Washington press inner circle. finally outed herself as a bona fide anti-Semite. Inexplicably answering questions from a NY Rabbi wearing a yarmulke as he shot video of her, Thomas answered his questions about Jews in Israel bluntly - they should all abandon their biblical homeland and return the various European societies that tried to wipe them out during World War II. Her words were so direct and unambiguous that there was no way for Thomas to put the genie back in the bottle. Her only consolation - she destroyed her standing in the community at the ripe old age of 89. There weren't many miles left on the clock anyway. Perhaps she explicitly understood this, and let the anti-Semite bomb drop because she no longer needed to care. Our conclusion: Helen Thomas has been an anti-Semite for a long time. Those kind of views don't drop out of the sky.
So, off with her head and moving on....or maybe not....
It took a bit of time before the White House responded publicly to the Thomas self-outing. Press Secretary Gibbs had this to say: "She should and has apologized, because obviously thoseremarks do not reflect certainly the opinion of most of the people hereand certainly not of the administration."
Curiously put. Thomas doesn't need to apologize for exposing herself. She did us all a favor by outing herself. She certainly doesn't need to apologize because "most" of the people presumably in the Press Corps and the Obama Administration supposedly don't share those views. And as we have stated in another post, we wonder what Obama really thinks about Jews in general, and Israeli Jews in particular.
Since Obama has taken office, he has adopted a decidedly hostile posture towards Israel and a decidedly...let's say sympathetic posture with Israelis decidedly hostile neighbors.
Recently, the Obama Administration departed from 40 years of precedent and sold out Israel on this upcoming 2012 nuke-free zone conference on the Middle-east. The Obama Administration hypocriticaly declared their "deep regret" that Israel was singled out in the language for the conference, but signed on anyway, even though Iran wasn't explicitly mentioned in the UN frame-work at all while Israel was. That, my dear friends, is a sell out. A very nasty sell out.
Furthermore, the Obama Administration's reaction to the Gaza blockade incident was also a sell out of our best ally in that region. The reason Hamas sympathizers are trying to get the blockade stopped is because it has been an effective means of preventing Hamas from fully re-arming. Duh!!!!!
Once again Charles Krauthammer, Washington Post columnist, and one of the sharpest minds of any beltway observer/commenter, summed it up best in a recent editorial.
We wonder if deep down Obama isn't paisan with Helen Thomas. Ok, actually we are sugar coating this - we think Obama is totally paisan with Thomas.
Have a read of this article from the American Thinker written during the Presidential campaign. The article talks at length about Obama's anti-Semite and/or anti-Israel connections within the radical circles he so loves to traverse. Even before Obama was elected, there were prescient predictions that Obama would demonstrate hostility towards Israel if elected.
He was, and he has.
Ironically, Obama's open hostility towards Israel hasn't really made inroads in winning the hearts and minds of middle-eastern man-on-the-street Arabs. His poll numbers are down in the middle east - way down. Poor Obama embarrassed himself, and the nation, with that awful speech in Egypt - for nothing. In the middle east, the term "peace" is merely a euphemism for the destruction of Israel.
To state the obvious: Israel is totally surrounded by enemies. Obama is hostile towards Israel, and Iran openly admits it's blood lust for a Second Holocaust. So I ask you - do these factors lead to peace and stability in the region or not? I think not. I think if Israel feels abandoned by Washington and faces a nuclear Iran on it's own, Israel will likely have no choice but to preemptively strike Iran with nukes.
Obama is as much a fool as any President in recent history, and he may very well be the root cause behind a whole lot of people getting killed.
