George Will hits one out of the park

(I hope the title metaphor is politically acceptable)

I don't much follow George Will these days.  He always struck me as a bit of an intelligentsia snob.  I used to watch This Week on ABC when it was hosted by David Brinkley , before it slid downhill like snow slides in an avalanche after Brinkley retired.  So, back then I watched George Will make his nearly weekly contribution to the show.  Sometimes I agreed with what he said, and sometimes I didn't.  So I was never more than lukewarm on the guy.

So tonight I paid my occasional visit to Rush Limbaugh's website to see what Rush was talking about these days (as I've mentioned before, I don't listen to his program during the day, and I find the transcripts of his show much easier to digest without all the theatrics and bombast on the air.  I agree with Rush far more often than I disagree).

Anyway, Rush had a small piece on an editorial that George Will wrote in the Jewish World Review (never heard of it) titled Hubris heading for a fall.  Wow.  It is a fabulous summation of the pure folly of the left (and RINO'S too)  A must read.

I will quote Mr. Will here and leave you all to follow this link and read the entire editorial.

"The hubris that is the occupational hazard and defining trait of the political class continues to cause government to overpromise and underperform."

As true as this is, the astonishing thing here is that no matter how much government overpromises and underperforms, a frighteningly large percentage of Americans keep returning to government again and again demanding even more over-promises, and are then shocked and outraged over the absolutely inevitable under-performance.  And, of course, the solution to chronic underperformance is yet more overpromising.  At no time is this syndrome more evident than in the health care debacle.  Despite a clear history of miserable execution on just about every "social" program the Government ever touched, we allowed the hand-over a huge chunk of our economy to people who have proven themselves incapable of succeeding.  And this is supposed to be a solution.

It just boggles the mind.

And think about this:  One of the greatest examples of pie-eyed overpromising coupled with stupendous underperforming is that of our President, Barack Obama.  In 2012, it will already be well past time to get off this demented merry-go-round, and throw these overpromising buffoons out of office.
