Leftist Wingnut from the Left Coast

Leftist house representative Rep. Barbara Lee says it's not the left who manufactured this crisis, but instead it's those righty extremists who want to - gasp - shrink government in order to reign in out-of-control spending.  Yes indeed, it's not that congressional Democrats have been unwilling to produce a federal budget for a whopping 800 days.  It's not that Obama's last budget proposal was so unpalatable and absurd on it's face that it evaporated on the Senate floor without winning a single solitary vote of support.

Nah, it's all the Republicans fault for forcing the leftist socialist big government extremists to the table.  How dare they demand at least a strong step towards fiscal responsibility in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.

How dare they!

I am in complete agreement with Rep. Paul Ryan's perspective on Democrat big government extremism:

"While the House has passed a serious, credible budget that tackles this debt crisis head-on, 800 days — and $7.3 trillion dollars — have come and gone since the Democrat-led Senate has adopted a budget. Not only is a budget a concrete fiscal plan, but it expresses a philosophy of governing. Democrats’ refusal to pass a budget — and refusal to put their big-government economic theories on paper — is of extraordinary significance. Making matters worse, the only budget submitted by the president is a fundamentally unserious plan that doubles our debt and speeds us to economic decline."

Like the Wizard from Oz, the Democrats are hiding their socialist big government agenda behind a veil as much as possible.  As Congressman Ryan points out, the Democrats would have nowhere to run and hide if they laid out their "philosiphy of governing" fully and completely on the table.  They know full well it would be rejected by us, just as Obamacare, when too much daylight illuminated that gargantuan mess, was rejected.  Yet the Democrat extremists rammed it down our throats anyway.  Yes, Democrats learned their lessons from the Obamacare fiasco, which contributed mightily toward them losing the House.  They didn't learn to abandon leftist big government extremism.  No, the learned that going public with their extremism gets them thrown out of office.  So, better to do their works in secrecy as much as possible.

If the new benchmark for extremism is to have a desire for the federal government to balance it's books, and shrink a hugely bloated bureaucracy, then I guess it must be official, I'm an extremist too.  Never would have thought of myself as an extremist.

In the meantime.....welcome to the Halls of Stupidity, Madam Congressperson.
